Position Opening for part-time EAP lecturer in the College of Business
OBJECTIVE.
1) Position available: Part-time EAP Lecturer (Kennin Koshi)
2) Field: English for specific purposes for undergraduate business students
3) Qualifications:
a. Master’s degree in applied linguistics, education, or a communication-related field
b. Experience teaching academic purpose English to speakers of other languages in a university setting is desirable
c. Advanced level proficiency in English (i.e., at least CEFR C2 level)
d. Must have a valid working visa for Japan
4) Position dates: September 1, 2023 – January 31, 2024
5) Content of work:
a. To teach two 100-minute classes a week: two classes of EAP1 on Friday afternoons (13:25 – 17:00). The course is for 1st year business students with a focus on integrating business content, including academic writing, presentation, note taking, and discussion. As the department uses a coordinated curriculum, all lesson plans and course materials will be provided.
b. Grading for written assignments, quizzes, and worksheets to be done outside of class hours.
c. Part-time lecturers will be required to attend (at least) one meeting prior to the start of the semester, and one at the conclusion of the semester.
6) Terms of Employment:
a. The contract is for one semester.
b. Salary is based on the university scale and paid over six months (including non-teaching months), plus commuting expenses within the Tokyo/Yokohama metropolitan area.
7) Deadline for applications:
