A PhD student in the Graduate School of Business, Ken Takezawa, receives the Best Paper Award at the 2026 AASM Conference
OBJECTIVE.
A PhD student in the Graduate School of Business, Ken Takezawa, received the Best Paper Award at the 2026 Asian Association for Sport Management (AASM) Conference, held in Bangkok, Thailand, from August 20–22, 2026.

The paper, “Structural Change in Competitive Balance: The Case of the Hakone Ekiden Relay Marathon,” examined the impact of the seed system on competitive balance in the Hakone Ekiden. The results found that the introduction of the system had a measurable impact on competitive balance.
The 2026 AASM Conference was held under the theme “Aging Society: Challenges and Opportunity in Sport Management and Innovation.” The conference featured 190 research presentations and brought together researchers working in the field of sport management.
