Establishment of the Beta Gamma Sigma Chapter, at Rikkyo University
OBJECTIVE.
We are proud to announce the establishment of the Beta Gamma Sigma (BGS) chapter at Rikkyo University’s College of Business and Graduate School of Business. BGS, founded in 1913, is an international honor society in business education that recognizes the most outstanding business students worldwide. With this new chapter, Rikkyo University becomes the fourth institution in Japan to host one. Membership is open only to students at AACSB-accredited institutions who demonstrate outstanding academic achievement. The chapter establishment ceremony was held on March 25, 2025, at the Ikebukuro campus, where the chapter at Rikkyo University’s College of Business and Graduate School of Business was officially chartered by BGS.
With the establishment of our chapter, we will annually select graduating students who demonstrate outstanding academic achievement and leadership in alignment with the ideals of BGS. These students will be recommended to the headquarters, and those approved will be officially recognized at the College of Business commencement ceremony, and welcomed into the global BGS network as members.

About Beta Gamma Sigma
Founded in 1913 by students at the University of California, Berkeley, the University of Illinois and the University of Wisconsin, Beta Gamma Sigma is the international business honor society that recognizes outstanding business students. Its name derives from the Greek words for honor (Bebaeos), wisdom (Gnosis), and earnestness (Spoude), symbolizing the values of ethics, intellect, and commitment.
Only educational institutions with AACSB accreditation—one of the most respected accreditations for business schools—are invited to establish a BGS chapter. Since its founding over 100 years ago, BGS has grown into a major international honor society in business education, with more than 600 chapters at universities in over 190 countries.
