Highlights from the 5th Vietnam-Japan International Business Conference (VJIBC)
OBJECTIVE.
The 5th Vietnam-Japan International Business Conference (VJIBC) was held at Foreign Trade University (FTU) in Hanoi, Vietnam on October 3rd, jointly organized by the Vietnam-Japan Institute for Human Research Development (VJCC) Institute at the Foreign Trade University and Rikkyo's College of Business (COB).
Under the theme "Creating and leveraging resources and capabilities for sustainable business development in the dynamic global business landscape," the event brought together scholars, researchers, practitioners, policymakers, and entrepreneurs from around the world to discuss issues facing business development in the pursuit of a more sustainable future.
The conference received an impressive total of 101 extended abstract submissions from various regions. After a rigorous selection process, a total of 65 papers were selected for presentation.
The papers selected represented a wide range of academic backgrounds and levels of expertise, from undergraduate and graduate students to senior researchers. The conference enjoyed a friendly atmosphere with a diverse group of participants from various international locations.

The conference began with opening remarks by Professor Pham Thu Huong, President of FTU. Following these introductions, Associate Professor Tomohiro Machikita of the Center for Southeast Asian Studies (CSEAS) at Kyoto University, Japan, delivered a stimulating keynote address on diversification by suppliers in the motorcycle industry in Vietnam and Indonesia.
Following the keynote, the conference transitioned into parallel research sessions that facilitated the exchange of expertise in management, business, and economics among paper presenters and the audience. These sessions fostered networking opportunities for future collaboration, with the overall goal of enriching scholarly debate. Throughout, the invaluable contributions of local FTU students were critical to the success of the conference.
