Highlights from the 4th VJIBC 2024 “Creating Sustainable Value for Global Prosperity”

OBJECTIVE.

The 4th Vietnam-Japan International Business Conference (VJIBC) was held at Rikkyo University on March 27 and 28, jointly organized by Rikkyo's College of Business (COB) and the VJCC Institute at the Foreign Trade University (FTU) in Hanoi, Vietnam. Under the theme "Creating Sustainable Value for Global Prosperity," this premiere event brought together scholars, researchers, practitioners, policymakers, and entrepreneurs from around the world in the common pursuit of a more sustainable future. The conference received an impressive total of 108 extended abstract submissions from various regions. After a rigorous selection process, 37 papers were selected for presentation. These selected papers represent a wide range of academic backgrounds and levels of expertise, from graduate students to senior researchers, and come from various international locations.

The conference began with opening remarks by Professor Ayano Nishihara, Dean of COB, and Professor Pham Thu Huong, Vice President of FTU. Following these introductions, Dr. Alan Bird, who served as COB's Special Professor in 2023, delivered a keynote address. Dr. Bird's presentation, titled "Leading Globally to Create Sustainable Value," provided valuable insights into global leadership behaviors amidst the interdependence, diversity, and dynamic business environment.

Following the keynote, the conference transitioned into two days of parallel research sessions that facilitated the exchange of expertise in management, business, and economics among paper presenters, discussants, and the audience. These sessions were designed to promote papers for potential publication and to foster networking opportunities for future collaborations, with the overall goal of enriching scholarly debate and fostering sustainable value creation on a global scale. Throughout, the invaluable contributions of COB students were critical to the success of the conference.
