On 26 October, 3rd and 4th year Global Business students enrolled in International Marketing Strategy took part in a guest lecture and workshop from Ayanomimi Managing Director Aya Okamura.
Ms Okamura, whose Copenhagen-based business provides product development and communication design services to Danish designers on how to enter the Japanese market, described to students the intercultural challenges of marketing Danish and Nordic design products in Japan. Students then took part in a short workshop to brainstorm distribution and communication strategies for a Danish-designed product in the Japanese market and presented their ideas to Ms Okamura.
In a following Q&A session, students were keen to learn the challenges that Ms Okamura faces as an entrepreneur, and how important understanding different cultures is in an increasingly globalized world. Mr William MacMillan from PricewaterhouseCoopers who attended the workshop also shared with students how PwC responds to cultural differences and encouraged students interested in entrepreneurship to attend the Global Entrepreneurship Week in Tokyo November 12-18.
