On 15 March 2012, Assistant Professor Adam Johns of the College of Business,Rikkyo University was one of three Tokyo-based Australian academics to speak at the University of Queesland's Global Leadership Series in a public lecture that explored the remarking  and reconstruction of Japan, one year on from the "triple disaster" of March 2011.

In a talk that contextualized the March 11 disaster among previous disasters Japan has faced, Dr. Johns drew on his current research to examine what is required for an authentic remaking of Japan's structural, cultural, economic, and social fabric, and what this meant for the recovery of "Brand Japan".

The lecture was attended by almost 400 members of the community and sponsored by the Japanese Government as part of its series of Japan Next initiatives.
